WDPS Arrival & Dismissal
Buses arrive in the back of the building. Staff members assist with unloading students and guiding them into the building.
School begins at 9:20. Families driving students are advised to arrive no later than 9:15 and join the line of cars in front of the school. As your car approaches the main doors, a staff member will help your child out of the car and guide them to the entrance. To keep the flow of traffic moving, please have your child ready to exit the vehicle when you reach the front door. You will then be directed to follow traffic to exit. Families arriving after 9:20 will need to park and the student will be marked tardy.
Bus dismissal begins at 3:30. Students are walked to their buses, by their classroom teachers. Buses depart at 3:45.
Students being picked up by family members are dismissed at 3:25. 1st grade students are dismissed from the B wing, just past the Kindergarten Playground. Kindergarten students are dismissed from the A wing, at the front door exit by the Kindergarten Playground. 2nd grade students and students with siblings are dismissed from the main entrance. Photo indentification must be presented when picking up students. Students being picked up from school must bring a note in with them that morning. Please include the child’s name, teacher’s name and the name of the individual picking up the child as well as the guardian’s signature. A sample note is provided on the next page. If a student is being picked up early please provide the same information as well as the pick up time. Early pick ups must be completed by 3:00 pm. Students who will be daily pick ups may rescind their bus rights and be assigned a permanent pick up pass. Please contact the main office if you are interested in this option.
