February Happenings & More

Posted Date: 02/01/26 (12:26 PM)

Washington Drive Families,
Our students had a blast harvesting lettuce from our Hydroponic Gardens, an initiative started by Mrs. Harley, and several students jumped right in to help with the harvest this past week! Students who participated in the Winter edition of Principal’s Storytime were entered into a contest to take the lettuce home, and we have never seen kids so excited about lettuce! Congratulations to the lucky students who brought this fresh and tasty treat home.
We also wrapped up our first session of clubs! Take a look at this special performance from Mr. Acquaviva's School of Rock Club - CLICK HERE -  and even squeezed in some snowy fun along the way!
Our Book Fair kicks off this week, and we’re excited to keep our love of reading growing. Let’s keep PARP (Pick A Reading Partner) going strong! Be sure to join us on 2/4 for PTA Family Book Fair Night and again on 2/26 for our next Principal’s Virtual Storytime.
There’s so much to look forward to in February, including the 100th day of school, when we’ll celebrate that our students are officially 100 days smarter! We will also be celebrating the students who participated in Reflections this week! We are so prud of the exceptional talents at WDPS. Congratulations to all of our winners!

As we continue through the winter season, we have a few important reminders to help keep our school environment focused and safe for all students.
Please help us with the following:
Trading Cards, Toys, and Fidgets
We have noticed an increase in items such as trading cards (including Pokémon and GOAT cards), toys, and fidgets (like clickers) being brought to school. Please be reminded that these items are not permitted, as they can be distracting during learning time. We kindly ask that they remain at home unless a teacher has given specific permission for a special classroom activity.
Playground and Outdoor Gear
While the playground will likely remain closed next week due to remaining snow, we are eager to get students outside for fresh air and daily walks whenever possible. Please be sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the cold weather, including a warm coat, hat, and gloves.
Thank you for your continued support in helping make our school a great place to learn!
