🍂 Welcome to October at WDPS! 🍂

We are so proud of our students! They have made an incredible transition to the new school year, and we couldn’t be more excited about all they are learning and accomplishing.
Our kindergarteners already seem like they have been members of the WDPS family forever! We are watching them learn, grow, make friends, and become more independent each day. Our first- and second-graders are loving their new role as the “upper grades” of WDPS, and we are so proud of the leadership, kindness, and effort they are showing throughout the building. 💚

🎃 October is Full of WDPS Magic!

October is an exciting month at Washington Drive, filled with fall fun, special celebrations, and learning!

📚 Save the Date: Parent Academy

Thursday, October 15
Our teachers have been working hard to prepare meaningful, practical presentations to help you support your child’s success in reading, writing, and math.
You’ll learn:

• What your child will be learning throughout the year
• Helpful strategies and tips you can use at home
• How to better understand and support our literacy and math curriculum

Our Director of Technology will also be joining us to answer all of your technology questions! Wondering how to access your child’s report card, use Infinite Campus, or navigate ParentSquare? We’ll help you get connected and make it easy!
And there’s a little extra WDPS magic! ✨ Every student whose family attends Parent Academy will be entered into a raffle. Two students from each grade will be selected to have lunch with the principals as a special thank-you for spending the evening with us!
We hope you’ll join us!

🚒 Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week is also coming up! On October 2, the Centerport Fire Department will visit WDPS to teach our students all about fire safety. Students will even have the opportunity to board a real fire truck and learn from our local firefighters!
Thank you to the Centerport Fire Department for helping our students learn how to stay safe!
