We have an exciting week ahead at Washington Drive! 📚✨

📖 An Author Visit to Remember!

Thanks to our incredible WDPS PTA, we are thrilled to welcome Susan Verde, beloved author of The Water Princess, I Am Me, I Am Courage, I Am Human, I Am We, and I Am Peace!
This Wednesday, Susan will be visiting WDPS to share her newest book, The Water Princess Builds a Well, the inspiring sequel to The Water Princess. Our students will have the opportunity to hear directly from Susan, learn more about her writing, and experience the magic of meeting a real author!
We are so excited to give our students this special opportunity to connect with books, celebrate reading, and be inspired by an author who brings powerful stories and important messages to life. 💚📖
A very special thank you to our PTA for making this incredible experience possible for our students!
 

🤝 Unity Day & No Place for Hate

We will also be celebrating Unity Day this week by signing our No Place for Hate Pledge!
At Washington Drive, we believe in teaching our students to be upstanders—to stand up for what is right, treat everyone fairly, and help make our school a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for everyone. 💚
Our students will make an oath to choose kindness, stand up for others, and celebrate what makes each of us unique. Together, we are building a school community where Everyone Belongs!
It’s going to be another wonderful week of learning, growing, and #wdpsmagic! 🌪️💚

📚 Save the Date: Parent Academy Thursday, October 15
Our teachers have been working hard to prepare meaningful, practical presentations to help you support your child’s success in reading, writing, and math.
You’ll learn:
  • What your child will be learning throughout the year
  • Helpful strategies and tips you can use at home
  • How to better understand and support our literacy and math curriculum
Our Director of Technology will also be joining us to answer all of your technology questions! Wondering how to access your child’s report card, use Infinite Campus, or navigate ParentSquare? We’ll help you get connected and make it easy!
And there’s a little extra WDPS magic! ✨ Every student whose family attends Parent Academy will be entered into a raffle. Two students from each grade will be selected to have lunch with the principals as a special thank-you for spending the evening with us!

Upcoming Safety Drill Notification

This week, we will be conducting a fire drill. These notifications are provided to help you, if necessary, have conversations with your child to ensure they feel comfortable and prepared. As part of our commitment to student and staff safety, we conduct various safety drills throughout the school year. The purpose of these drills is to help everyone become familiar with our emergency procedures and respond quickly and effectively should a real emergency occur. Details of the Upcoming Drill:

  • Type of Drill: Fire (Evacuation)

  • Time Frame: Within the next week
